Volleyball Drops Matches to No. 2 Wittenberg and Muskingum

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Katie Heffner (Easton, Pa./Easton) led Gettysburg with 21 kills, Steph Vial (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) had 47 digs and Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) picked up 55 assists as volleyball dropped its first two matches at the ASICS Invitational at Juniata on Friday.

The Bullets lost to No. 2 Wittenberg, 3-0, in the first match of the evening. In the loss, Heffner led the way in kills with 11 to go along with three blocks, while Lauren Thul (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) added eight kills to the effort.

Vial led Gettysburg in digs with 23 to go along with two service aces, and freshman Krampf added 14 digs and 22 assists in her collegiate debut.

In their second matchup, the Bullets fell to Muskingum, 3-0. Again, Thul and Hefner led Gettysburg in kills with 12 and 10, respectively. Krampf had 33 assists in her second collegiate match.

Defensively, Vial one-upped her dig count from the first match, picking up 24 in the day's second match. Megan McConville (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) had 14 digs versus Muskingum to go along with the Bullets' lone service ace of the match. Heffner and Hillary Prutzman (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) tied for the lead in blocks with six block assists each.

The Bullets wrap up play at the ASICS Invitational with matches against Christopher Newport and No. 1 Juniata on Saturday.
